Weekly Update
June 27, 2008
Welcome to Weekly Update, a publication of Western United Environmental Services (WUES), designed to bring you valuable information and helpful tips for compliance with the Waste Discharge Requirements of the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board. We strive to provide your dairy with quality service, while at the same time saving you money as you face the challenges of compliance. Each week you will find features on compliance issues, regulatory changes or common questions, as well as workshop notices and introductions to the WUES Technicians. If you have missed any of our past issues, they can be found on our website at http://www.wuenvironmental.com/press.htm.
July 1 Deadline Remains Firm
Rumors are circulating that the Regional Water Board is issuing extensions for the July 1 filing. This is not true. As of June 26, the official position of the Regional Water Board is that the July 1 deadline remains firm, and no extensions have been or will be granted. If you have any questions, please contact your WUES technician immediately.

July 11 public
workshop on digester greenhouse gas protocol
- - The Air
Resources Board (ARB) staff will be hosting a public meeting on Friday, July
11 to discuss the California Climate Action Registry’s (CCAR) Livestock
Project Reporting Protocol. This protocol provides a methodology for
determining the greenhouse gas benefits of using an anaerobic manure
digester to capture and combust methane from manure. This meeting will
cover proposed updates to the CCAR protocol and the process for taking the
CCAR livestock project protocol to the Air Resources Board for approval
later this year. The session is set for
10 a.m. to 1
p.m. at
the Cal/EPA Headquarters Building, Coastal Hearing Room, 1001 I Street,
Sacramento. The meeting can be viewed on the web at
http://www.calepa.ca.gov/broadcast/?BDO=1. For more information on the
review of the anaerobic manure digester protocol, visit the ARB’s website at
http://www.arb.ca.gov/ag/manuremgmt/protocols/protocols.htm or contact
Kevin Eslinger (916) 445-2151 or via email at
