Weekly Update
October 3, 2008
Welcome to
Weekly Update, a publication of Western United Environmental Services (WUES),
designed to bring you valuable information and helpful tips for compliance
with the waste discharge requirements of the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board. We strive to provide your dairy with quality service,
while at the same time saving you money as you face the challenges of
compliance. Each week you will find features on compliance issues,
regulatory changes or common questions, as well as workshop notices and
introductions to the WUES technicians. If you have missed any of our past
issues, they can be found on our website at
www.wuenvironmental.com.
CDQAP Announces Fall Workshop Schedule
The CDQAP has
announced the schedule for its fall workshops. These workshops will feature
new sampling protocols and an overview of the December 31st
annual report, and are designed to help producers understand the big-picture
issues behind the next phase of regulations. Even though many producers are
using consultants for the preparation of forms and reports, it is important
to understand the reasons for their recommendations, especially when those
recommendations concern changes in management practices
or infrastructure. Remember, producers are ultimately
responsible for compliance, whether they use a consultant or prepare and
file their own reports. Producers will need to bring their CDQAP binder to
the workshop, since new materials are being provided.
