Environmental Technician

Western United Environmental Services (WUES) is seeking applicants for the position of Environmental Services Technician in California.

Western United Environmental Services is a fee-for-services organization that provides environmental expertise and assistance to dairy producers to comply with the complex and costly Waste Discharge Requirements (WDRs) that affect Central Valley dairies.

The qualified candidate will:
• Demonstrate an understanding of the livestock industry
• Be adept with computer technology (Word, Excel, Access, email, etc.)
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn
• Familiarity with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) a plus
• Demonstrate appropriate writing and math skills
• Have an ability to manage heavy paperwork load
• Be detail-oriented and be able to manage time/multiple deadlines
• Show ambition and flexibility necessary to work in a start-up company
• Have a valid driver’s license and personal vehicle
• Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

The position requires the Technician to:
• Communicate directly with Western United Dairymen (WUD) field staff and California dairy producers through personal visits
• Develop knowledge of WDR regulations and reporting requirements
• Provide information regarding the above issues to WUD field staff
• Input data gathered on site at dairies into reporting database
• Fill out and submit WDR reports as directed
• Report status on applications and reports to WUD field staff and WUES management
• Keep track of deadlines and status on multiple projects
• Interact with WUES “preferred provider” engineering firms to ensure project completion and deadline attainment

Hiring Timeframe:
• Six candidates in Dec 2007/Jan 2008
• Six candidates in Spring 2008
